We Built the Payment System for the Person Who Takes Financial Security Seriously

The Naora member is not a tourist. They are the professional who has built or managed significant enterprises and who applies to every financial commitment in their life the due diligence that the size of the commitment warrants. The offshore sailing membership is a significant financial commitment.

The Naora payment system was built with the understanding that the person making it will ask the questions that the significant financial commitment deserves, where does the money go, who controls it, what happens if the circumstances change and that the architecture of the system needs to provide honest structural answers to these questions rather than the reassurances that the less rigorous operator offers in place of the structural answer.

The membership fee produces immediate Circle access and is the payment for the membership year. The leg fee goes into an independent escrow account managed by a third party and is released to Naora sixty days before the departure date of the booked leg. The escrow account is independently managed and independently documented, the member receives the escrow confirmation from the escrow manager, not from Naora.

The payment options cover the full range of the international member base: bank transfer in Euro, USD, or GBP, and credit card via Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

What the Architecture Signals

The payment architecture signals something about the operator who built it. The operator who puts the member’s leg fee in an escrow account rather than in their operating account is the operator who is willing to be held to a higher standard of financial accountability than the standard booking deposit model requires.

The escrow is a constraint on the operator’s operational flexibility, it means the leg fee cannot be used to fund the programme’s operations until sixty days before the leg departs. The operator who accepts this constraint in exchange for the member’s financial security is the operator who believes the programme will still be running sixty days before every leg departs and who is willing to build that confidence into the structure rather than asking for it as trust.

The person who takes financial security seriously recognises this structure as the structure that was built for them. Not because they expect the worst, they do not. Because they understand that the appropriate structure for a significant advance commitment is the structure that protects their position regardless of what happens, and that the operator who provides that structure has demonstrated in the architecture of their payment system the same rigour that the member applies in the due diligence of their professional decisions.

The payment system is not separate from the programme. It is the first expression of the Naora programme’s commitment to the people who join it.
