What We Are Building and What We Are Looking For

In the coming months, we are going to start producing content about the offshore sailing life and the Naora programme and the world the circumnavigation moves through. Not the polished brand video that says little. Not the social feed of the beautiful anchorage photograph with the caption. The actual documentation of what we are building and why, in the form that the people who are considering joining the Circle deserve to see before they decide.

This is the honest version of what that means and what we are looking for from the people who want to be part of producing it.

The Editorial Presence

The conversations with the sailing press and the travel press are already happening. Yachting magazines, travel publications, lifestyle titles in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the editors who have found the Naora programme are the editors who recognised that the offshore sailing life in the form we are building it has not been properly represented in the publications that their readers would expect to find it in. We are working on changing that. The first publications are published.

The editorial placements that are coming in the next months are not the advertorial. They are the feature, the long read, the crew profile, the route story, the specific angle that each publication brings to the Naora world from the perspective of the reader they know.

If you are an editor or a journalist who wants to cover the Naora programme, the preparation, the people, the offshore philosophy, the community, we want to hear from you. The access is genuine. The story is real.

The Podcast

The Naora podcast is coming. The format is the long conversation, not the ten-minute episode of the sailing tips for the weekend sailor but the hour-long honest conversation with the people who have been through the offshore passage and who have something real to say about what it produced. Naora members. The crew. Entrepreneurs and founders who spent three weeks in the Pacific and came back different.

The marine biologist, the chef, the captain. The people whose professional lives were changed by the offshore reference and who can talk about it without the language of the wellness industry.

We are looking for the podcast host who understands this format, the person who is genuinely curious and who can hold the long conversation without the script. Not the professional broadcaster necessarily. The person who asks the question the broadcaster would not ask and who has the patience to wait for the answer it deserves.

The Video and the Documentary

Five years. Four oceans. The Brothers Islands at dawn. The Pacific night sky on day fourteen. The Banda Sea anchorage below the nutmeg plantation. The Long Table in the offshore bay with twelve people from six countries. This is the documentary material that the Naora circumnavigation will produce across the five years of the programme, the material that the offshore sailing world has been producing in fragments for decades and that has never been assembled into the continuous, professionally produced, globally distributed documentary series the subject deserves.

We are building the video infrastructure now, in the months before the departure. The channel, the format, the production approach, the distribution. The first content will be the preparation, the boat, the crew, the route, the community that is assembling before the departure. The content that follows will be the circumnavigation itself, documented in the form that the offshore life takes rather than the form the highlight reel produces.

Circle members will have access to content before it reaches the public, the raw conversation, the behind-the-scenes passage documentation, the long-form material that the public channel edits into the shorter form. This is not a marketing benefit. It is the natural expression of the community that the programme produces: the people who are part of the voyage before it departs see the voyage being built before anyone else does.

Who We Are Looking For

We are actively looking for talented people who want to contribute to the content programme. Not as employees and not necessarily as full-time roles. As the people whose specific skills the Naora content requires and who want the access that contributing to the programme provides.

The underwater photographer who can keep up at the Brothers Islands and who understands that the best underwater photograph is not the technically perfect image but the one that shows what it actually feels like to be in the water with the whale shark in the Gulf of Tadjoura.

The videographer who has been on offshore boats before and who does not need the conditions to be comfortable to produce the shot. The writer whose voice is suited to the long-form travel piece and who wants the access to the offshore world that the Naora circumnavigation provides as the material. The drone operator who understands wind at sea. The podcast producer who can find the structure in the unscripted conversation.

The arrangement in each case is individual. Some people will join legs as part of the content crew. Some will contribute remotely. Some will produce the specific deliverable that their skill and the programme’s need jointly define. What we are not looking for is the person who wants to produce content about the sailing life from a distance. We are looking for the person who wants to be in it.

What the Circle Receives First

The Circle members are the first audience for everything the Naora content programme produces. The editorial pieces before publication. The podcast episodes before the public release. The video content before it reaches the channel. The preparation documentation, the boat fit-out, the crew training, the route planning, as it happens rather than as it is edited into the departure announcement.

This is not a feature that was designed as a membership benefit. It is the natural consequence of the community being the community that is part of the voyage before the voyage departs. The people in the Circle are part of the story before the story begins. The content they receive first is the content of the story they are already in.

If you want to be part of what we are building, as a member, as a contributor, as a collaborator, the conversation starts the same way it always starts. The Calendly link is below. The conversation is thirty minutes. The access to what follows is the access to the offshore sailing life in the form it takes when it is genuinely documented rather than performed.
